Abstract: In this paper, the influence of smart schools on retention of biology lesson among first grade high school students of Kermanshah city in Iran is studied in education year 2015-2016. The research method is quasi-experimental with two experiment and control groups. By cluster random sampling, two classes with normal educational system and two classes with smart educational system are selected among first grade high school students of Kermanshah. The sample size included 100 students who are divided into two 50-member experimental and control groups. The independent variable is smart schools and the dependent variable is retention. The content of the eighth chapter of the biology book is taught to both groups in normal and smart methods. The applied tool is a researcher-designed retention test that is performed in two pretest and posttest retention stages in two groups. First, no significant difference is seen in the levels of preliminary knowledge of the students in two groups. After the experiment, a posttest is condycted to evaluate retention level in both groups. The average score of the experiment group is bigger than the average score of the control group. The independent t-test is used to examine the research hypothesis. This test is calculated with 95% confidence, which indicates a significance difference between the students’ retention process in biology and its implication in teaching and retention of biology.

Abstract: The purpose of study was to investigate the effects of mathematics professional learning community (PLC) for remedial instruction. The participant of the PLC was teachers from one primary school. They were invited to join the project of mathematics remedial instruction. This project was organized by the researcher who integrated components of effective mathematics instruction so as to help teachers carry out remedial mathematics instruction. The PLC teachers in the research are primary school teachers of fourth grade in Taiwan. In order to promote their knowledge of mathematics remedial instruction, they were engaged in the workshops of lesson studies and organized as school-based professional learning community. Lesson studies consisted of components to improve effectively remedial mathematics instruction. These components included life mathematics, scaffolding for mathematics reading comprehension, strategies for problem solving, guidance of representation and schema-based instruction. All the resources and instruction materials were established in the knowledge management platform in which teachers could access and share the resources. This longitudinal study was held for one year. The students of these PLC teachers took three waves of mathematics assessments so as to detect the effects of mathematics professional learning community. Results showed these students’ mathematics achievement improves gradually. It was concluded that workshops of mathematical pedagogical content knowledge and establishment of knowledge management platform could help teachers for mathematics instruction. Finally, based on the findings, some suggestions for practical instruction and further research were also discussed.

Abstract: We have investigated the difference in persistence between male and female students while taking undergraduate physics courses. To quantify the persistence of a certain group of students, we have defined ‘persistence index’ as the inverse of the decrease rate of the number of that group of students while taking a specific course. We have collected the data from three consecutive workshops on various topics of physics. After plotting the number of participations against the number of days attended, we have calculated the decrease rates and persistence indices for both male and female student groups on each workshop and compared the persistence indices on a bar diagram. The comparative statistics show that the persistence indices of female student groups are significantly higher than that of male student groups. This leads us to the conclusion that the female students are more persistent than male students while taking an undergraduate physics course.

Abstract: Incorruption in higher education does impose an impact on college students’ learning, living and development as well as their cultivation of socialist core values. Based on qualitative study, 80 interviewees are selected in this thesis and materials are collected for coding analysis in the general process of grounded theory. In this way, four aspects of risks on incorruption of higher education are explored from the perspective of impact on the cultivation of socialist core values of college students, namely, damage to the value of equality and justice, violation of incorruption and integrity, violation of civilization and the ruling of law, the breach of work ethics as well as 15 specific risk points for incorruption. Based on that, causes and preventing strategies for incorruption of higher education are put forward by studying of literature works and task analysis.

Abstract: Price and solvency are two basic attributes to constitute tuition standards of a training program. However, the tuition of higher vocational education in Vietnam in recent years is low with slow growth, exceeds the affordability of students, especially for those who have a difficult economic situation. Based on statistical analysis of the tuition of higher vocational education during 2010 - 2015, this article has detected the internal contradictions as well as the limitations on the tuition of higher vocational education in Viet Nam due to the direct impact from the increase in excess of CPI, GDP per capita is slow and the student loan program is limited. Thereby, this article has suggested a number of suitable recommendations and solutions. Hopefully, these solutions are practically useful to perfect the tuition of higher vocational education in Viet Nam nowadays.
