Abstract: Excellent Engineer Training Plan is an important measure in a longer period in the future for China of higher engineering education reform, and the Plan is a new quality engineering to promote the training of top talents for colleges and universities in meeting the needs of social and economic development. A brief overview of talent cultivation of Excellent Engineer in China is presented firstly, including the begin phase, the traits and strategic keynotes of the Plan. Then the talent cultivation of Excellent Engineer in Henan Polytechnic University is discussed in detail. The automation specialty of the University is taken for example, its detail training program is given, including the training target, main disciplines, main courses, course platform and credit ratio, the length of schooling year, the graduation requirements of credit and grant degree, etc.. At last, some suggestions are given for the Plan to be carried out effectively.

Abstract: Although the penetration of mobile phones in Asian countries keeps climbing, little research has explored the application of the short message service (SMS) in vocabulary learning in Iranian young adult learners. This study aims to examine the role of SMS on vocabulary acquisition and motivation of Iranian students. Sixty young female learners in Pre-Intermediate level were randomly distributed into two groups and they were given a list of words to make sentences with. The experimental group sentences were corrected by the teacher through SMS and the control group sentences were checked in their notebooks. Later, the post-test was administered. Utilizing the paired and independent sample t-test, and descriptive statistics, the data were analyzed. The results revealed that the experimental group outperformed the control group (Sig= 0.01,sig<0.05). The findings also revealed that both learners and parents had positive attitude toward using cell phones in vocabulary learning.

Abstract: The existence of disciplinary culture within universities is rooted in academic tradition. The differences between the disciplines as regards the way in which they perceive and apply Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and the fact that the discipline is a conducive factor to pedagogical innovation invite to explore pedagogical innovation from the disciplinary culture perspective and to question the effect of disciplinary culture on the types of pedagogical innovation professors use. The data for this qualitative research was collected from semi-structured interviews with thirty-two professors, recipients of the Université de Montréal excellence in teaching award. I used the grounded theory analysis method which has allowed me to uncover similarities and differences between the disciplinary cultures and analyse their impact. The Hard-Pure sciences focus on pedagogical innovation related to the tools, the concept of teaching and the support schemes. The Soft-Pure sciences prefer pedagogical innovation related to tools, support schemes and professionalisation. The Hard-Applied sciences use pedagogical innovation related to tools, pedagogical approaches and professionalisation. The Soft-Applied sciences favour pedagogical innovation related to pedagogical approaches, tools, support schemes and professionalisation. Also, the greatest pedagogical innovation diversity occurs within the Soft-Applied sciences. Thus, it is time for kindling reflection on the influence of the pure versus applied science dimension on pedagogical innovation and questioning ourselves whether the discipline’s relationship with innovation could be a decisive factor in professors’ involvement in integrating pedagogical innovation into teaching? This study finds its significance in probing the influence of disciplinary culture on pedagogical innovation and contributing new knowledge in this field.

Abstract: In this research the author starts from the two hypotheses that rapid changes and contemporary reality bring fear of the future to which not even students are immune, and that among students we can recognize different value orientations in relation to the past, present and future. From a sample of 189 students of Pedagogy and Teacher Education Department, it is observed that over 80% of them show certain degree of fear, whereas a factor analysis has presented that the fear is latently generated by three components: contemplation of the future, global processes and taking over the responsibility for one's own long-term goals. Among the three orientations the students are mostly orientated towards the present, then towards the future, while a certain number of them are of mixed orientations, and only one student has had insufficient orientation towards the past. Regression analysis has shown that the orientation towards the present mostly predetermines success during the studies, that is to say academic achievements. In addition to the latest findings relating to fear of the future and future orientations of students, this work offers a range of problems for research, and especially it puts forward two new instruments calibrated within strict methodological frameworks.

Abstract: Background: Ethiopia is one of the countries which placed education at the center of its strategies for development and democratization, with strong policies promoting quality of educational provision and rapid expansion of educational opportunity to previously underserved populations (AUC, 2005; TGE, 1994). Objective: The core objective behind this study is to identify key factors affecting output indicator of primary education quality at Lay Gayint Woreda in South Gondar zone. That is to identify factors which affect output indicator of quality of primary education, the determinant indicators on outcome variable, to select the most important variables that are related to output indicator of quality of primary education in Lay Gayint Woreda. Methods: In this study multiple linear regression model, factor analysis or principal component analysis was used. Conclusion: This study used regression analysis and factor/ principal component analysis and the following results were obtained. From the selected variables the most significance factors are counseling office, job satisfaction of teachers, way of monitoring and evaluation, school leadership and library service, sex, work load at home, time taken to arrive in the school and preschool attendance, schools input and leadership factors and teachers activity have a significance effect on the school output. The variables supportive books at home, head of house hold educational level, house hold size, age of the student, number of students in class, teachers academic qualification, exam condition, laboratory service, availability duplicating machine, toilet and water service in school had not significance effect on the output of schools.

Abstract: We present a conceptual proof of the Cauchy-Binet theorem about determinants to show how much one can gain by investing a bit more in conceptual development, comparing this treatment with the usual one in terms of laborious matrix calculations. The purpose is to stimulate a conceptual understanding and to overcome the usual empiricism, which is an obstacle to a real understanding of mathematical knowledge. The article also aims to show that mathematical terms could be understood as dynamic processes, based on the interaction between intensional and extensional aspects. As it is not really possible to answer any question about the nature of mathematical objects definitively, much less to limit the possible interpretations of mathematical concepts, processes of concept evolution are of great importance to mathematics as a human activity.
