Abstract: The article deals with the peculiarities of the functioning of the servicemen’s psyche, who have lost their limbs as a result of combat injury and are experiencing phantom pain. It was found out that the mental state of a serviceman, who has suffered a traumatic limb amputation, can be identified with a state of acute grief. The peculiarities of psychological help for the injured servicemen, combatants, experiencing phantom pains, were investigated. The consequences of staying in extreme situations were described. The fact of amputation leads to the collapse of all life prospects of a serviceman, a reassessment of one's self, a significant decrease in the level of harassment and often to the loss of the meaning of life. The problems faced by the servicemen after returning from the zone of anti-terrorist operation were revealed. Post-amputation phantom pain was reported in 69% of left-sided and 31% of right-sided amputations. It was found out, that the patient, who is feeling the amputated limb, continues to consider it a complete organ, but with pain. Presence of pain intensifies the feeling, that the lost limb was not damaged. Phantom pain is localised in a special form of expression - a symbol and is irradiating. The main directions of psychotherapy in the work with servicemen were outlined, examples of methods of the mirror therapy for overcoming phantom pains were given.

Abstract: This paper reports findings on the challenges and sources of resilience of carers of Persons with Intellectually Disabilities (PwIDs) in Ghana. Semi-structured interviews were used to gather data from ten (10) institutional carers (House Mothers), and five (5) teachers at three different institutions for PwIDs in the Kumasi metropolis of Ghana. The challenges carers face is because of socio-cultural perceptions regarding PwIDs as well as work related constraints. Even though this research confirmed the fear, apprehension and negative comments by family, friends and the public to care work, it also revealed that this could be due to ignorance, lack of understanding and unfamiliarity of the public with PwIDs. Despite the challenges involved with care work such as aggressive behaviour from PwIDs for instance, carers indicated that PwIDs were ‘interesting’ and ‘funny’, making the work enjoyable. The study revealed that religion and the expectation of a future blessing from God were a major source of resilience for carers. Since increased social integration has been suggested to reduce stigma against PwIDs, this study recommends that Ghanaian social workers actively engage in discussions regarding the integration of PwIDs in day-to-day social processes. Furthermore, while it is important to build the resilience of carers, it is equally relevant for Ghanaian social workers to address the source of challenge (in this case stigma and discrimination) that necessitates this resilience in the first place.

Abstract: The objectives of this study are 1. to study the cultural heritage tourism at Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province; 2. to study ethnic groups of people and conserve their cultural sustainability 3. to study the demand of tourists, who visit the area to increase number of quality tourists. Both quantitative and qualitative methods, which were questionnaires and interviews respectively, were applied in the process of conducting this research. According to the findings, cultural heritage tourist attractions that should be promoted are historical and temple tourism (x̄ = 4.10), while the rest were already in high level. The activities that served the need of tourists were visitation to ancient monuments, temple tourism and offering to Buddhist monks on the longest wooden bridge. The accessibility to tourist attractions (x̄ = 3.97), accommodation service (x̄ = 3.96) and the amenities (x̄ = 3.28) still require some improvements. The image of the tourism sites must also be improved (x̄ = 4.00), while the rest is in medium level. Lastly, the result acquired from the SWOT analysis and TOWS Matrix strategy indicated that there were 3 types of tourism that should be promoted: historical, cultural, and religious tourism. And to increase the number of tourists, all stake holders needed to cooperate to solve the problems of these 4 aspects: the image, the advertisement through digital media, facilities and cleanliness and sanitation management.

Abstract: The paper appraise the nature of beta in the Nigeria stock market and the impact of Beta on Investors’ wealth maximization strategy in the Nigerian Stock Market. Ex-pos facto was iused to design the research as secondary data from the Nigerian stock market was deemed fit for the study. The study also indicated that there is a strong relationship between the firms’ Stock Return and Beta Coefficient. Finally, the study established that Beta Coefficient has a significant effect on the Stock Return of Firms Listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Three years data collected (from January 2017 to December 2019) from the database of the Nigeria Stock Exchange was used to estimate the coefficient of the stocks’ betas. The data collectected were monthly price rates of the stocks, the All Share Index monthly rates and the Nigeria Treasury Bills monthly rates. The All Share Index is used to calculate the market returns and the Treasury Bills used as the risk free rate. To carryout the data analysis, returns were calculated for stocks and the market. Regression Analysis wss then to regress the stocks’ returns against the market returns in order to estimate the beta coefficient using the CAPM (Capital Asset Pricing Model) theory: Ri=Rrf + Bi (Rm-Rrf). The result showed that Guanranty Trust Bank, Ashaka Cement, Dangote Cement, Flour Mills Nigeria plc and Northern Nigeria Flour Mills plc have higher risk (beta) of investment than the other stocks meaning they are more volatile than the market and the other stocks that have beta value les than one (1), thence higher expected retuns. It is, therefore, recommended that Investors should invest in these mentioned Companies with higher risk as higher risk is synanimous to higher returns in order to maximise their returns.
