Abstract: Summary: The progressive digitalization of our society has also transformed the online training. The new platforms offer more features, favour a tailored education and are compatible with the working life of the student. From the servers it is possible to measure the rate of interaction and the student’s dropout rates. For this reason, the phenomenon of Big Data requires a rethinking of the concept of reputation based on three ideas: transparency, trust and digital identity of the educational organization. This article analyzes the case of the School of Communication at the Istmo University (UNIS) in Guatemala. The use of Blackboard platform improved learning and interaction in those students. It is confirmed that the e-learning platform known as Blackboard facilitates learning and teacher-student interaction. This tool collects and updates data throughout the process, so that the educational organization can monitor the degree of interaction and student dropout.

Abstract: This work aimed to learn online higher education students’ perception of mentoring and to know how it should be planned in virtual environments to favor student learning. With these new environments, the mentoring process needs to be reconceptualized which can, in turn, be adapted to the online teaching format, attending to its specific use to enhance the capabilities of the professionals. Based on this eminently quantitative methodology, students’ perception was sought by means of teaching evaluation questionnaires that students completed at the end of each subject. The results indicated that students favorably perceived the way the mentoring models were considered, and no significant differences were found among variables, e.g. specialized subject taught or questionnaire items.

Abstract: Research on leadership has extended throughout social sciences in recent years and is becoming more and more relevant. In this regard, the online higher education institutions are not an exception. This paper aims to do an analysis of the evolution of the studies on leadership by reviewing the articles on this topic since 1950s, and to propose a multi-disciplinary perspective. Since the subject is so wide, we have chosen three areas within the social sciences: business, politics, and education, which account for about 45% of the articles in the web of science. First, we do a quantitative analysis of the output in politics, business and education. Second, we proceed to study which concepts relate to leadership in each area from a qualitative perspective hoping to extract trends and target opportunities in order to improve training on this topic in universities and business schools.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to adopt a contingency approach and study important factors for academics’ Professional Identity. Based on a sample of 112 academics we run a descriptive analysis to understand if variables such as gender, age, nationality and teaching mode do have an influence on academics’ Professional Identity. Our results show that teaching mode is a relevant factor to be considered.

Abstract: The presented work invites the reader to engage with the proposed Expanded School, deterritorialized from time and space of higher education institutions. The experience of the teacher training in the course “Methodology to quality in online learning” with the participation of five universities (one in North America, two in Latin America, and two in Europe) will be reported and analyzed in order to gather and understand the difficulties and advances in reference to teaching practice in online education and then propose new education systems and assess the quality of interaction in respect to online learning. The context of education in transition from industrial and post-industrial society and an online education proposal allowing the school expansion to have experiences that go beyond their territory delimited by the classroom and walls will be presented. By the school expansion to the Web 2.0, the virtual learning spaces potentiate also new pathways that lead teachers and students to review how learning occurs in cyberculture.

Abstract: Attention to cultural diversity is a necessity at online higher education in management (2004) postulated a framework for conceptualizing dimensions of intercultural competence in its development model of intercultural sensitivity. Complementary, Intercultural Learning Model (Beamer, 2016) emphasizes the importance that students are able to encode and decode the differences in messages emitted by people of different cultures. In addition, higher education institutions should attend perceived cultural distance emerges as an outstanding concept related to the management of interculturality by the management of institutions. The aim of this research is develop a systematic indexed literature review at the field of intercultural approach to the online teaching and learning at management. Systematic literature review described by Fink (2005) is the methodology used. It consist on identifying, evaluating, synthesizing, interpreting and analyzing research literature. This review is based on Business Source Complete (EBSCO) that offers papers from 1936 to 2016 with 1,232 documents; Web of Science, from 1995 to 2016 with 207 documents and Scielo, from 1999 to 2016 with 358 documents. The content analysis applied shows that 74% of the papers' fragments can be categorizes as integration. Therefore, the papers articles avoid the importance of achieving integration at the online teaching-learning processes in management.

Abstract: In training processes within professional practice, professional discourse can benefit from the study of language and its complexity, incorporating both its representational and presentational aspects. Integrating a professional’s thoughts and actions is key in the research of professionalizing knowledge, in which the use of narrative exceeds the dichotomy of thought and action. In many institutions it is common for many trainers to begin interventions with an initial study of expert opinions [1, 2, 3, 4]. However, when dealing with very specific disciplines, experts occasionally prioritize their own field of research over and above that of others, as they experience an intense connection with their field due to the social repercussions of their work; paradoxically, it is this same social commitment which defines concrete priorities and pushes other areas into second place, making it difficult to reach consensus among different professionals [5, 6]. The aim of this paper is to study how certain processes of reduction in the number of experts and variables can be carried out as an initial training step when interventions aimed at achieving consensus among experts have been unsuccessful. In our case, we intervened in the field of Health Management through a work group consisting of professionals in different specialties within the health sector (doctors, managers, pharmaceutical industry specialists, etc.). The evaluation of the degree of consensus was undertaken with the study of the deviations of the Delphi Method and Kendall’s coefficient of concordance W, as is often the case [7, 8, 9, 10]; we realized, however, that we had not achieved an acceptable degree of consensus. We therefore opted to apply a study of profiles and of variable reductions, in search of a more compact subgroups of opinion among the experts. We concluded that, when working with groups with a high level of identification or when no appropriate consensus techniques have been applied, it is possible to resort to this method to achieve more cohesive work groups. Moreover, when a consensus technique is applied as a correct intervention, this same technique can serve as an evaluation tool.
