Abstract: As a result of karst development, water leakage from reservoirs and waste water leakage from mine tailings impoundments often occur in karst region of southwestem China. The geophysical prospecting methods commonly used in the investigation of karst leakage passage are mostly located in the dam, abutment and other land of the reservoir area, which are fail to detect and evaluate the karst collapse at the bottom of the reservoir directly. This will result that the effect of detection and governance are often poor. This paper takes the detection of karst leakage passage beside culvert of the first class hydropower station in Jinjihe reservoir in North Guangxi as an example, studying the principle, field working method and detection effect of detecting karst leakage passage in reservoir by self-potential method on the water. Outcropping formation in the study area mainly consist by the limestone clipped dolomite, dolomitic limestone of Devonian Liujiang formation (D3L) and dolomite, limestone, argillaceous limestone of the Devonian Donggangling order (D2d). The hidden karst is secondary development. That outlet pipe of the first class hydropower station in the district releases water can cause a strong negative center regional field of self-potential on the water. By dividing the regional field of self-potential on the water using the circumferential mean method and calculating the residual local anomaly separate 6 secondary negative center residual local anomaly of self-potential on the water covered by a strong regional field like an equiaxed or elliptical shape. After check in the reservoir by the diver, the 6 negative center residual local anomaly zone correspond to karst collapse, karst opening or leaking skylight at the bottom of the reservoir. Among them, the negative center residual local anomaly like an equiaxed shape near the survey points 46-48 of line 16 correspond to the largest karst collapse at the bottom of the reservoir. Through the simple connected experiment of internal and external water and the engineering geological drilling, the effect of geophysical anomaly detection is good. The self-potential method on the water can be used in the investigation of karst geological problems, such as the emergency on the water of the karst sick reservoir, and the rapid delineation of the range of the shallow karst leakage passage.

Abstract: Prior study proposed that extracts of edible flora might own electrochemical activities to act as electron shuttles (ESs), stimulating capabilities bioelectricity generation in microbial fuel cells (MFCs) at appropriate environmental conditions. However, applications of converting such electrochemical species (e.g., medicinal herbs and tea extracts) to be ESs for practical use still remained open for discussion. Thus, this first-attempt study disclosed critical conditions to manipulate ESs with stably reversible characteristics of electrochemistry from natural bioresources and provided quantitative assessment with practical values for biorefinery/bioenergy applications. According to total phenolics, antioxidant scavenging and power density analyses, Syzygium aromaticum owned the most promising electrochemical capabilitt to be electron shuttle (ES) to stimulate energy extraction. The findings indicated that antioxidant activities, total phenolic contents and electron shuttling-activities were all strongly electrochemically associated for sustainable uses. In addition, closed-loop area of redox potential profiles in cyclic voltammetry could quantitatively represent electrochemical activity of test medicinal herb for antioxidant and ES uses.

Abstract: Microalgae contained abundant value compositions (e.g., antioxidant polyphenolics and flavonoids, proteins) and owned significant bioelectrochemical characteristics for sustainable applications. This study tended to decipher strategy to maximize generation of value-added products through testing of electrochemical capabilities (e.g., total polyphenolics content, DPPH antioxidant activities, cyclic voltammetry). Although extracellular metabolites of microalgae might express significant electrochemical activity as electron shuttles, such metabolites apparently still inhibited microbial activities, leading to significant reduction of power generation in microbial fuel cells with metabolite supplementation. This result clearly explained why slow-growing microalgae could propagate ubiquitously even microbes were grown in much faster rates. That is, combined interactions of microalgae-bacteria co-cultures evidently provided ecologically favorable conditions for microalgal persistence due to inhibitory metabolites expressed by microalgae in co-cultures.

Abstract: China produces a large number of agricultural wastes annually, most of which are treated by incineration, and the utilization rate is very low. This paper had constructed a hydrogen production system for chemical chain of agricultural and forestry waste, focusing on the effects of loading capacity, promoter and baking temperature on the oxidation and catalytic performance of NiO/NiAl2O4 oxygen carrier and the characteristics of its reduction and physical properties. The results showed this oxygen carrier had good circulation ability. After many redox reactions, the output of H2 had no obvious attenuation, and NiO could be attached to the surface of NiAl2O4 effectively. Therefore, NiO/NiAl2O4 oxygen carrier had certain mechanical properties, not only the pore was fine, but also the gas flew through the chain cycle reaction completely. The research of this paper has important significance for high-grade utilization of agricultural and forestry waste, environmental protection, energy saving and emission reduction.

Abstract: Activated sludge process is the most widely used sewage treatment technology, which accounts for more than 90% of urban sewage treatment processes and about 50% of industrial wastewater treatment processes. The essence of the activated sludge process is that microorganisms use the biodegradable organic matter in the sewage as nutrients for metabolism and meanwhile remove them, while large amounts of sludge would be generated inevitably during the sewage treatment process. The cost for the sludge treatment accounts for about 50% of the operating cost of the sewage treatment plant. In this study, the effects of uncoupler propyl paraben on sludge reduction and sewage treatment were conducted, and the results showed that the optimized concentration of propyl paraben for sludge reduction was 30 mg/l, which achieved 41% sludge reduction effect. Under the optimized propyl paraben concentration, the average removal rate of COD increased from 93.35% in the blank group to 94.53%; the average removal rate of NH4+-N increased from 65.47% in the blank group to 83.84%; the average removal rate of PO43--P from the 58.47% in the blank group increased to 67.36%; meanthile the sludge kept good settalbility during the sewage treatment process.

Abstract: The detecting of spare range-spread target is discussed in this paper based on the AR model of clutter. Compound-Gaussian clutter is modeled as the AR model, and a regressive approximate generalized likelihood ratio test detector based on scatter number (SN-RAGLRT-CG) is proposed. The probability false alarm of the detector is deduced. It does not need secondary range cells to estimating the parameters of clutter. The simulation results also show that the SN-RAGLRT-CG makes full use of the information scatterers and it improves the detection performance for spare scatterer targets of the detector.

Abstract: After PM2.5 is inhaled by the human body, various pathogens such as influenza viruses, can cause many respiratory diseases, causing local clogging of the lungs and causing damage. At present, the research on the effect of PM2.5 on human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B) and the toxicity of the respiratory system only focuses on the single source PM2.5. The effects of different native PM2.5 on human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B) and the toxicity of the respiratory system have not been reported. In this paper, the effects of artificial PM2.5 graphene particles, sterilized atmospheric PM2.5 particles and unsterilized atmospheric PM2.5 particles on the viability of immortalized human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B) are investigated. The Bio-hazard Index describing the effects of PM2.5 on human respiratory health is constructed based on the change of BEAS-2B cell viability under different PM2.5 concentrations in the cell culture. The index can evaluate the pysiological impact of PM2.5 on the human body, and is more intuitive than the current AQI, which only discribes the physical concentration of PM2.5 in the air. The index thus provides a more accurate hazard prevention warning for susceptible population.

Abstract: The aim is to understand the structure and composition characteristics of adipose tissue in different fat-tailed sheep, to lay a foundation for the study on the induced deposition of adipose tissue. The number of 6 for each eight-month-old Lanzhou big-tailed sheep, small-tailed Han sheep and Tibetan sheep wether have been selected for the slaughter experiment. Then, the subcutaneous, greater omental, perirenal and caudal fats have been collected for cell morphology studies, while the fat of Lanzhou big-tailed sheep and Tibetan sheep have selected to study composition and content of fatty acid. By comparison: for fat-tailed sheep, the fat is enriched in tail, subcutaneous tissue, and omentum, whereas for less fat-tailed sheep, the fat is enriched in viscera and subcutaneous tissue. The subcutaneous fat of fat-tailed sheep had early maturation, high degree of differentiation, and long growth phase of fat tail. For the less fat-tailed sheep, the subcutaneous fat and perirenal fat type have similar characteristics of differentiation and development, while the tail fat has early maturation. For Lanzhou big-tailed sheep and Tibetan sheep, their major fatty acids have similar characteristics of site distribution.
