Abstract: Creativity is very crucial in the teaching and learning of vocational skills among educational establishments throughout the world. The purpose of this study was to investigate the curriculum content and promotion of creative teaching and learning in fashion design in colleges of education in Ghana. A descriptive survey design was adopted, due to its ability to collect large quantities of data in a limited period of time. Both qualitative and quantitative data collection was used. Purposive and stratified sampling techniques were used. The total sample size of the study was 188 (165 students, 18 tutors and 5 principals). The research instruments used for data collection were questionnaires for teachers and students and an interview guide for college principals. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize, arrange and explain the participant’s biographic data and the effective characteristics of the rest of the independent variables using a frequency table, percentages, and means with their respective standard deviations. Inferential statistics involving chi-square goodness of fit was used to test the null hypotheses formulated. All hypotheses were tested at p< 0.5 alpha level of significance. Qualitative data was done under various themes. It was also found that there is statistically significant relationship between curriculum content of creative teaching and learning in fashion design. The study also found that Colleges of education also faced a lot of challenges that prevent creative teaching in fashion design. There should also be periodic capacity building workshops stakeholders including the ministry of education officials and the school management on vocational pedagogical strategies to enable the fashion design tutors to effectively transmit creativity to the students. Ministry of Education through Curriculum Research and Development Division should develop creativity policy on integration of creative teaching and learning in fashion design for college of education and ensure it is implemented.

Abstract: This paper explores the work and contribution of Ahmad Ibrahim (1916-1999) in his effort to Islamize law in Malaysia. He had constructed and formulated comprehensive and unprecedented structure of instructive and highly possible method to Islamize law and to bring about harmonization of Islam and civil law in Malaya. In this context, he had espoused for independent legal and criminal administration of Islamic law and formation of the highly anticipated Shariah court in Malaya. The reform and shariahization of law undertake was brought forth with strategic move and develop in step. The paper discusses in depth his method to apply Islamic law as set forth in his works and the consistent effort in striving to espouse and bring about harmonization of Islamic and civil law of the British colonies. This is to replace the draconian law inherited from the colonialist, arguing that shariah canon law had been implemented in Malacca, Terengganu and Kedah before being abolished by the colonial, and that its application has been proving superior to reducing crime rates. The study is based on qualitative method using primary and secondary sources. The data was systematically analyzed in a descriptive, historical and comparative manner. The finding shows that Ahmad Ibrahim has bring about unprecedented reform in the administration of Islamic law in Malaysia and espoused instructive ways for the realization of the maqasid and shariahization spirit in contemporary context.

Abstract: Leftover spaces are spaces in a city can be defined as spaces that exist without clear assigned uses and poorly managed space. The development of the urban railway in Addis Ababa has resulted in a huge number of leftover spaces in the intermediate spaces produced by these concrete structures. Although the space found in the city center, it has received less attention by rising issues with regard to usability, social interaction, integration, etc. This research assessed the characteristics of this leftover spaces under railway paths in Addis Ababa, by selecting three segments in the city where the problem is seen more, and studied their functional and physical characteristics and the existed problems in detail. The research was conducted using a case study approach with different data collection methods such as observation, interviews and document review. The data are presented through images, tables, and maps. The data was collected, primarily from three types of people: those who were seen using the space, those who live near the space and who were passing through the space, and those who work place found in front of the leftover space. Because these people engage with the space on a daily basis and are most likely to notice its effects. The research finding indicated that the existing status of the space is not contributing to urban life, rather it is found that the space works against the urban life by serving as a catalyst for the spread of negative influences like attracting homeless peoples. In response to these findings, the study confirms the importance of enhancing the functionalities of the space in order to create a livable space by making use of the leftover space to contribute to the urban community by adapting the surrounding neighborhood context. In general, the study forwards recommendation for enhancing the current status and forwards new possible design typologies that shows different ways to make the space more useful, functional and attractive without eliminating the neighborhood character.

Abstract: Microsporidia are obligate intracellular parasitic fungi causing chronic diarrhea, particularly among immunocompromised patients. Microsporidial infections have been recognized as an increasingly important infection, particularly among those hospitalised with HIV/AIDS infected patients at the federal medical centre (FMC), Keffi, Nasarawa State. One health facility was used to engage HIV/AIDS infected patient accessing antiretroviral therapy (ART) to identify the presence of microsporidium and to determine the associated risk factors. 252 stool samples were examined for microsporidial spores by modified giemsa staining technique. The overall prevalence rate of 15.08% was recorded. Based on age group, microsporidia infection was common among patients aged between 61-70years 15.0% while sex-related, the male had 30.43% rate of infection. Though, marital status, occupation, and widow/widower had 15.79% and artisans (33.33%) respectively. The vulnerability was determined by their fate and status. However, chi-square result showed no significant relationship observed (P>0.05) between the age, and sex- distribution of microsporidium. The proportion among occupation and marital related distribution of microsporidium among HIV/AIDS infected patients were diarrhoic. In relation to viral load, all positive HIV/AIDS infected patients with microsporidia spore had viral load above normal. Twenty-five (25) HIV/AIDS infected patients had 10,000ml/viral load in replicates. Microsporidium is therefore, identified and recognized as an invasive opportunistic infection among HIV/AIDS infected patients which should be considered in a routine checks among HIV/AIDS infected patients.
