Abstract: Soil stabilization using Renolith has proven to be an economical method of improving the properties of soil. Soil samples were collected from four different locations along Osogbo-Iwo Road, Osun State in Nigeria. Portland cement and Renolith were used for stabilization. The Atterberg test carried out before stabilization shows that the Liquid Limit of the four (4) samples ranged between 29% and 47.5%, Plastic Limit between 18.81% and 35.98% while the Plasticity Index between 6.99% and 19.27%. Three varied mix proportions i.e., (Cement was kept constant at 5% while the Renolith was varied by 4%, 10% cement constant, Renolith varied by 6% and 15% cement constant, Renolith varied by 8%) of stabilizers were used to treat the samples. This was done by weight of the soil samples, to determine the effectiveness of using Renolith and also to determine the optimum concentration of cement-Renolith for stabilization. The tests carried out on the samples were Natural Moisture content, particle size analysis, hydrometer, Atterberg, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and compressive strength. After stabilization, the properties of the soil were greatly improved as there was an increase in the CBR value of the samples up to 39.65% from 1.6%. the use of 5% cement and 4% Renolith by weight of soil sample has been recommended as effective to improve the soil to a sub-base material.

Abstract: This paper brings about understanding of the effect of ore dilution to the economics of mine and reveals that, mining ore dilution is one among factors affecting the economy of mining projects. Dilution factor varies within a single mine for different benches and zones due to changes seen in grade distribution and shape of ore body, also varies based on commodity price obtained. It was necessary to make sure that these variations were taken into account during designing or evaluating a mine. The study identified suitable methods that are supposed to be used for estimation of ore dilution level which are: Geological review method, loading and haulage methods. By checking the number of dilution from the data, the percentage of dilution, the total tons of ore and total tons of waste was computed by the formula of dilution, the computed average dilution estimation was found to be 64% which was then used in determination of an increase level of ore dilution by comparing obtained results to the standards ore dilution used by the company. Normally the company estimated 20% up to 23% as standard ore dilution which brings about the average of 21.5% standard ore dilution. Upon considering the factor of standard planned ore dilution in the Company, the finding proved that there is an increase by 42.5% ore dilution during operation each day. Upon considering factors concerned with the process of comminuting, the results shows that grade from grade control is 4.73 g/t and grade of the final product is 3.95 g/t and the grade difference is 0.78 g/t where by factors like, leakage, slurry overflow, some other chemical agents in the CIL tanks that take place in the process like (CIL) Carbon In Leach process, crushing and grinding are taking into consideration. The study shows that, the dilution per hour in a given bench is above standard planned ore dilution. By checking the line graph from the findings it shows the dilution per hour in a given bench is higher than standard planned by the company which is 29%.

Abstract: This paper represents an important issue with accumulating separate fundamental mechanisms through the wheelchair for the handicapped persons as world is getting tired by seeing the handicapped scenarios for accidental or natural circumstances. Our job is to provide them a pretty easier life with the invention of this modified wheelchair. This chair consists of some important section of project for the handicapped person where all the belongings have been powered by mainly Arduino Uno. Along with this some additional devices like sensor, microcontroller, Bluetooth module, buzzed module and Android software have been used to fulfil the requirement. The chair moves with the directions of the navigation keys from Android mobile. For the deaf person a display has been used with a view to making better communication level with others by the voice command from Android mobile software. Besides, it can detect the obstacle from the front position for better justification of the user. However, this chair is sensible in detecting the hole or crack from the front position of the chair. Sensing living being from the front position is also a responsible duty which will be helpful for blind person indeed. Not only this but also a strong automation system has been provided to control the home appliances with the help of Android software. A 12.5 volt 1 Amp and 5V Battery have been used to power the tasks. This intelligent chair can carry up to 150 kilogram weight which will make a revolution indeed. The entire cost for this job was TK 13500 BDT (150 USD).

Abstract: Biogas refers to a gas produced by break down of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. Organic waste such as dead plant and animal material, animal faeces and kitchen waste can be converted into a gaseous fuel called biogas. Usually, getting rid of waste places burden of not only cost on organizations, communities, government among others but also engender several environmental issues. The objective of this study was to design and develop a simple technique for handling and storing of biogas, analyze the biogas produced by the mixture of cow dung, and finally test the biogas produced to confirm its flammability. In this work, waste material specifically cow dung was used for the production of biogas in biogas digester at the animal farm of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi. The waste materials fed into the digester were cow dung and water to mix wastes into slurry. The mixture was done in the ratio of 1 to 2 by mass; cow dung to water respectively. The storage device was filled up with biogas by using a motorized compressor. The system was tested at retention times of 15, 20 and 25 days and gas burning times of 20, 40 and 60 minutes. The effects of heating time and retention time on gas volume and pressure were analyzed. It was observed that the gas volume utilized increased with increasing heating time at all the retention times investigated. Finally, analysis of the biogas thus produced were studied and compared to previous work. The biogas produced in this work was indeed flammable and at a relatively low cost. Production of biogas at optimal conditions was recommended as a panacea to solving the prevalent environmental issues caused by waste disposal; and should be embraced not only by government on a large scale but also by individual on smaller scale.

Abstract: A survey study was carried out in April 2015 to identify application of centre pivot irrigation system in Northern State (Sudan) and to find out the major problems facing its use under a local conditions of the State and make recommendations to address them. The study included 76 centre pivot machines distributed in nine projects in different locations in the State. The required data was collected by questionnaire and field visits to the sites of the case study. Results of the study revealed that there were some problems facing the use of centre pivot irrigation system under the local conditions of the State, which can be solved by providing trained and skilled labour to operate the system in these projects. A centre pivot irrigation system as a modern technology is promising to come into use in Northern State (Sudan).
