Abstract: The system which is developed in this project, student information management system, provides users a simple and efficient way of maintaining student information. The main objective of this project is to build system that allows users to truck student information and manage the school teaching learning process easily. It can be used by educational colleges to keep student and student related data. Student information management system deals with academic related reports, news and the details of student, course, instructor, student grades and other resource related details. And also the system enables users to generate semester grade reports and student transcript at the end of graduation. The system was developed using technologies such as PHP, HTML, JAVA SCRIPT, CSS and MySQL. PHP, HTML, JAVA SCRIPT and CSS are used to build the frontend or user interface and the backend or database was built using MySQL Database.

Abstract: The aim of this study is to improve the communicational efficiency of website designs. In this respect, any website is perceived as a means of communication between the interested user/visitor and the organization that operates it. By considering a website as a means of communication, the online information design and delivery of the operating organisation may become more efficient. Consequently, certain guidelines from the conceptual framework of Communication Theory should be also followed for the designing of a website, contrary to the established methodology based predominantly on IT techniques. The suggested method for this designing operation is the systemic one and especially Systems Methodology that combines concepts from both the disciplines of Information Systems and Communication, in a holistic manner. Moreover, the efficiency of information design and delivery can be also evaluated by using the same criteria as those of the design. In conclusion, the proposed herein approach is demonstrated through both the design and the evaluation of an experimental website for postgraduate studies, indicating as a result the applicability of the systemic methodology for this purpose.

Abstract: Digital innovations in connection with the Building Information Modeling (BIM) enable better integration and interaction of various forms of building information and data created throughout the lifecycle of the facilities concerned. However, without widely accepted role model or practical framework on BIM-integrated building maintenance, many maintenance professionals might consider BIM implementation and asset management as isolated practices and would find it difficult to retrieve and use relevant BIM-derived information for asset-related decision making and monitoring when taking over the as-constructed BIM model in project completion stage, resulting in significant reduction in efficiency and productivity in asset management (AM). The purposes of this paper were (i) to summarize the major obstacles in use of BIM as far as maintenance personnel are concerned; (ii) propose steps in setting up AM-customized BIM requirements in early modeling stage to avoid information loss when going through different life cycle stages and (iii) develop a practical methodology with work practices to use BIM in maintenance phase. A case study of BIM deployment in asset management of electrical & mechanical (E&M) facilities in a typical public sewage pumping station serves as an example showing how challenges are experienced and overcome. The findings of the study indicate that there is a high potential for BIM benefits in asset management provided that an over-arching BIM corporate strategy, interoperability of BIM model integrated with in-service maintenance management system, and customized user applications in work routines are implemented.

Abstract: Enhanced index tracking is a popular type of portfolio management which aims to construct the optimal portfolio in order to generate higher portfolio mean return than the benchmark index mean return. Enhanced index tracking is a dual objective optimization problem which can be represented by a goal programming model to determine the trade-off between maximizing the portfolio mean return and minimizing the tracking error. The objective of this paper is to apply the goal programming model in constructing the optimal portfolio to track the Technology Index in Malaysia. In this study, the data consists of weekly return of the companies from technology sector in Malaysia stock market. The results of this study indicate that the optimal portfolio is able to outperform Technology Index by generating weekly excess mean return 0.3798% at minimum tracking error 2.0980%. The significance of this study is to identify and apply the goal programming model as a strategic decision-making tool for the fund managers to track the benchmark Technology Index effectively in Malaysia stock market.

Abstract: An environment of high service quality laboratory infrastructure management will greatly improve the process of teaching and learning. Haramaya University commits to achieve such major goal of excellence in teaching and learning through service-oriented and conducive learning environment facilities. Thus, this study determines that service quality of the university’s instructional laboratories as timely and needed. To gauge its current service quality, SERVQUAL is used as one of the most effective and popular evaluation tool to work on. Thereby, the study adapted five (5) academic colleges (i.e. CCI, CNCS, CAES, CVM, and CHMS) and one (1) IOT institute. There are 375-sample size of college students, Technical Assistants, and Academic Staffs and out of that value, only 283 has been considered for analysis and interpretation. From the returned sample, 236 (83.10%) were males and 48(16.90%) were females. Majority of the respondents were undergraduate students with 171 (60.41%), followed by staff with 58(20.42%), then post-graduate students with 31 (10.92%) and Finally Technical Assistant (TA) with 26 (8.45%). Among all the colleges, in terms of fulfilling the expectation of customer (staff/students) as based on Average mean gap, CNCS rank 1 st (-1.72), followed by CAES (-1.73), then CCI (-1.77), then IOT (-1.84), then CVM (-2.10), and finally CHMS (-2.13). It is evident from the wide gaps score as perceive by the users’ perceptions of service quality offered by the Instructional Laboratories did not meet their expectations in general. The study further recommends that in order to reduce the large gaps in the service areas relating to Customer – Staff and Students, with the management should consider providing more training to staff not only to technical skills in handle facilities in the laboratory but to enhance their customer service skills.
