Abstract: Resource recovery from solid waste is of immense benefit for any society in terms of sustainability and economic diversification. It directly addresses the problem of waste overload as well as resource scarcity. This study assesses the efforts made by Lagos State of Nigeria to recover resources from solid wastes since 2007. It highlights the different programs and policies of the state in resource recovery and carried out a questionnaire survey of the citizens’ awareness and response to the government efforts. While the residents are conscious of the government position and are ready to get involved in its actualization, there is however, a very low level of implementation especially in the infrastructure. The study concludes that to improve the Lagos State resource recovery model, there is a need to approach it more globally, starting with the redirection of the polity towards a circular economy and encouraging inclusiveness especially with the private sector.

Abstract: Most countries seek to develop and protect their economy from collapse and avoid risks, Some countries depend on economic diversification, some depend on natural resources, Like oil to achieve economic growth, including Iraq, which lacks industry, agriculture, and human resources management to support development at the present time for various reasons, the most important of which is relying on selling oil in the first place, And the spending of resources achieved on the local community, therefore, development depends on oil resources only and on the justice of the central government and its vision for development. Iraq is a country rich in its civilization and historical depth in the region. It includes many historical, cultural, natural and religious sites scattered throughout Iraq, but it lacks how to invest in supporting economic development. Accordingly, the research assumes that the resources obtained from urban tourism differ in their effectiveness and their impact on spatial development events from the revenues accruing from the sale of oil. The current research aims to reach mechanisms for converting Iraqi cities into tourist destinations that combine religious, cultural, natural and medical tourism as an entry point to increase opportunities for distributing resources directly to the local community through the idea of urban tourism without relying on oil resources. The results of the practical study of Iraqi cities showed that they are weak cities that do not meet the requirements of urban tourism, although they include a large number of historical sites and civilizational, natural and religious monuments, therefore they need to review policies related to tourism and planning.

Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to estimate the total economic value of Tiya megalithic world cultural heritage site using non-market valuation methods of Travel Cost Method (TCM) and Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). The study uses Individual Travel Cost Method to estimate the use value and the Double Bounded Contingent Valuation Method to investigate the mean Willingness to Pay for the nonuse value of the Tiya MWCH site. The truncated Poisson regression method (TPRM) was employed to derive the demand function for the use value of Tiya MWCH site and the bivariate probit model were used to estimate the nonuse value of Tiya MWCH site. The regression result showed that travel cost, monthly income, total travel time, sex, family size, household head, purpose of visit, membership in any environmental group and knowledge are important determinants of the recreational demand of the site. The result of the study also showed that the potential annual use value of the Tiya MWCH site was estimated to be 9,615,508.00 ETB per year and the nonuse value (one time contribution of community residents of Tiya town) of the site is 64,494.20 ETB. Finally, we recommend that to maintenances and maximize the benefits that can be derived from the Tiya MWCH site.

Abstract: The aromatic rice has cultural and economic significance in Bangladesh. This study assessed the relative economic viability (profitability and risk) of aromatic and non-aromatic wet season (WS) rice varieties. The farm-level data for this study was collected through face to face interview from Dinajpur. An enterprise, partial and stochastic budget was developed in the study. Nearly half of the total T. Aman area in the case study villages was devoted to aromatic rice, in particular modern aromatic cultivar BRRI dhan34, mainly due to it gave notable extra benefits over local aromatic (BDT. 13,519/ha) and non-aromatic (BDT. 20,197/ha) cultivars. There was no significant difference in yield between BRRI dhan34 and local aromatic variety, namely Kataribhog. However, BRRI dhan34 was found to be the more economically viable (gave higher returns and posed less risks) option due to its higher and stable market price. The higher price, guaranteed market demand, lower fertilizer requirements, shorter growth duration and suitability of late transplanting of BRRI dhan34 are the major drivers behind its widespread popularity in the region. It was clear from this research that farmers in the case study villages are highly motivated to increase adoption of the aromatic cultivar due to its price advantage and ensured market. Therefore, the development and dissemination of the higher yield potential biotic stress tolerant aromatic variety should get priority in policy planning for higher income generation and export earnings for the country.
