Abstract: Parakou occupies a strategic place in the socio-economic development of Benin due to its geographical position. Based on the Urban Land Registry data, and census data from the National Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics coupling with the statistical description and adjustment to the distribution Zipf rank-size model, allowed us to describe the urban hierarchy on the scale of Parakou localities over the period 1979 to 2013. The changes in densities of population occupation per decade show a tendency to sprawl from the 2000s and linear and quadratic adjustments are satisfactory (linear: 0.81≤ R² ≤ 0.95 and quadratic: 0.95 ≤ R2 ≤ 0.98) and significant at 1% (P-value = 0.000) to 88%. The linear coefficients of Pareto are continuously decreasing (ǀαǀ = 1.749 to ǀαǀ = 0.831 between 1979 and 2002), and reflect that the weight of big cities keeps an influence on small and medium-sized cities over this period, while a slight increase was observed in the courtyard of the decade from 2002 to 2013 (ǀαǀ = 0.861 in 2013) and shows the effect of the creation of new districts with the gradual loss of the influence of the old districts of the central core. The results suggest that population growth of the city is occurred with urban sprawl controlled by exogenous factors of infrastructures or land type. Managements of spatial planning structures are then arrested in the guidelines to provide land for the human impacts control on natural resources of watersheds.Abstract: Parakou occupies a strategic place in the socio-economic development of Benin due to its geographical position. Abstract: The preparation of an Integrated Urban Development Plan (IUDP) for an urban center requires a grasp of the situation in terms of issues and challenges facing the residents of that particular urban center. The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats can then be analyzed and the planning process approached in an integrated manner. The integration is not only in terms of sectors, but also the stakeholders including the public and urban management. Nambale town is a vibrant urban establishment along the Mumias-Busia highway and one of the towns within Busia County, Kenya. This study sought to carry out a situation analysis of Nambale town with a view of bringing out issues that will inform the preparation of an IUDP. Data from different sectors (Education, Housing, Economic sector, Health, Recreation, Transport, Energy, Environment, Water and Security) was collected, analyzed and presented. Questionnaires, key informant interviews and consultative meetings were some of the methods that were used to collect the data. The data gathered and information generated will hopefully assist in the preparation of an IUDP and result in a sustainable and resilient urban Nambale.Abstract: The preparation of an Integrated Urban Development Plan (IUDP) for an urban center requires a grasp of the situation in terms of issues and challenges facing the residents of that particular urban center. Abstract: During the last decades urban migration rate has broken all records in Bangladesh due to several factors like climatic changes, increase in national income, technological advancements etc. These unusual urban dwellers create pressure on travel pattern within the cities. As a result intensive traffic flow has become a common scenario in almost every city in Bangladesh which creates severe traffic congestion that brings speechless woe for citizens. This situation challenges transportation planners and engineers to provide sustainable traffic management strategies to manage traffic congestion. This study has been conducted to measure the intensity of traffic congestion of Pabna town and to identify the traffic congestion spot within the town. Spot speed study and journey and delay studies were the main methodological approaches to conduct the study. The data collected has been analyzed through the use of different statistical computer packages. The study has explored that the average speed of Pabna town has found 13.67 K. P. H with average delays of 3.38 minutes or 203 seconds for a single journey. Pachmatha morr has been identified as the most congested prone intersection of the town. The study has also found that pedestrians movement on the streets due to unavailable footpath, unauthorized hawkers alongside the streets, illegal parking on streets, loading and unloading of passengers by auto-rickshaw and cycle rickshaw, right diverging and cross movement of traffic flow at intersections are the major causes of creating traffic congestion in the town. The suggestion from the study is one-way traffic flow and strict implementation of traffic regulation as a possible solution of congestion for the town.Abstract: During the last decades urban migration rate has broken all records in Bangladesh due to several factors like climatic changes, increase in national income, technological advancements etc. These unusual urban dwellers create pressure on travel pattern within the cities.
