About This Special Issue
There is a lot of drive in a new locale of novel research referred to as polymeric materials, polymer composite and nanocomposites recently. The word Nanocomposite illustrates a range of composites designed and engineered on a nanometre scale with extensive applications especially in biomedical niche. A lot of research has been proceeding in innovative discovery, design, engineering and development of highly novel applicable polymeric materials, composites, and nanocomposites for effective application in materials such as tissue scaffolds, composites textile fibres, electro-spurn nanocomposites fibres, composite nanocarriers, nanoparticles reinforced polymer nanocomposites and so on. The synthesis of the aforementioned materials is an integral part of polymer science, nanoscience and nanotechnology, and biomaterial technology. A branch of research under this field is the biomaterial science and technology. This issue will cover the recent innovative works in the field in polymeric materials, their composites, nanocomposites along with their applications in different branches of biomaterials. The issue will cover Research, Review, Case Report, Short commentary etc.
Aims and Scope:
  1. Call for and possible publication of articles on recent advances in novel polymeric materials.
  2. Call for and possible publication of articles on synthesis, modification and proposed application of polymeric nanomaterials especially in biomaterials.
  3. Call for and possible publication of articles on the state of the art techniques for the design, engineering and development polymeric materials, their composites/nanocomposites geared towards application in biomaterial science and technology.
  4. Call for and possible publication of articles on polymer-nanocomposite materials in general.
  5. Call for and possible publication of articles on application of polymer-nanocomposite materials in biomaterials niche.
  6. Call for and possible publication of articles on the effect of different Nanoparticles/materials in the aforementioned composites/nanocomposites along with the use of modeling for optimized material properties.
Scope:
  1. Synthesis of the polymers, and polymeric composite/nanocomposite materials: synthesis of the polymers, copolymers, block-polymers, methods of polymerization, along with in situ polymerization preparation of the polymeric materials, etc.
  2. Polymer and polymeric material testing: characterization and analysis of the polymers, their materials as well as the polymer additives, study of the polymerization mechanism, measurement of molecular weight, size, conformation, morphology/structural properties and behaviour of the composite, nanocomposites and the virgin polymers, etc.
  3. Physical properties of the polymeric materials: rheology, swelling kinetics, viscoelasticity, crystallization, phase separation, drug release mechanisms, drug-polymer/composite interaction, entanglements and crosslinking, thermal properties, mechanical properties, optical properties, dielectric properties, the kinetics of degradation and polymerization, smart polymers and other stimuli’s, biodegradation, cytocompatibility, etc.
  4. Theory of polymers and their simulation: macromolecular systems numerical simulation aimed at understanding their fundamental physical or physico-chemical mechanisms, modelling of the conformational morphology and structure of the polymers and their predictive algorithms of polymerization kinetics and polymerization mechanism, modelling along with prediction of the performance of smart polymers, constitutive and multiscale modelling methods for polymeric, polymer-composite and polymer-nanocomposite systems, kinetic theory of polymers, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data-driven modelling of polymers, polymer-composite and polymer-nanocomposites focused at polymeric based biomaterials.
  5. Processing of the polymer, polymer composite/nanocomposites materials and performance: solution casting, thermoforming, compression and transfer moulding, rotational moulding, extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding, plastic foam moulding etc.
  6. Application areas of polymer, polymer composite/nanocomposites materials in biomaterials: all forms of applications ranging from biosensors to actuators, from biomedical engineering to space engineering, with polymeric materials, showing substantiation of concept, structural/system design, performance authentication and characterization of the aforementioned materials.
