About This Special Issue
Hair loss has a significant influence on psychological distress and is associated with low self-esteem and depression. Androgenic alopecia is a common, chronic hair loss disorder. It is characterized by progressive hair loss, affecting both sexes. It affects up to 80% of white men and 40% of women. Men are more likely to accept hair loss but woman finds it distressing. Treatment options for androgenic alopecia are very limited and include topical minoxidil and oral finasteride (FDA approved) either alone or in combination which are FDA approved. Autologous platelets-rich plasma (PRP) has attracted a lot of attention in many different medical fields in the last decade. PRP has been used to promote healing and hair growth. In this special issue we would like to focus on the use of PRP in hair loss and its effect on promoting hair growth through a review and a case report.

  2. PRP
