About This Special Issue
Natural products and their secondary metabolites/derivatives have traditionally been precious as a novel rich source of various preventive and therapeutic mediators for many diseases and illnesses. It represents a rich source of bioactive compounds and are an example of molecular diversity, with well-known potential in drug discovery and development research.

Until now, natural products have provided the inspiration for most of the active ingredients in medicines: around 80% of medicinal therapeutic inventions were either directly derived from naturally occurring active compounds or were inspired by a natural product, and more recent research findings confirms the continuing importance of natural products for drug discovery scenario. This special issue is intended to discuss the importance of natural products research and its role in modern drug discovery and development for various diseases/disorders.

We invite the researchers to submit original and review articles in different fields of natural products. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

1. Pharmacological potential of medicinal plants
2. Phytochemistry
3. Quantitative analysis of active compounds
4. Ethnopharmacology/pharmacognosy
5. Food sciences and Food chemistry
6. Preclinical and clinical trials/reports on use of natural products for treating various ailments
7. Safety evaluations of natural products
8. Comparative investigations on natural products and synthetic drugs
