About This Special Issue
Environmental pollution is considered to be our world's most dangerous and constant threat. Our world is exposed to hazardous pollutants and chemicals from different sources every day. Industries, vehicles and basic human activities (like cooking) are spreading toxins around our world on a daily basis; these toxins affect our environmental resources such as air, water and, soil. Slowly, our ecosystem is being brought down by the impending danger of pollutants. These problems require immediate scientific attention to find an appropriate and cost effective solution.

Environmental science and Treatment Technology (ESTT) serves the international community in all areas of Environmental Science and related subjects with emphasis on chemical compounds. It reports from a broad interdisciplinary outlook. Apart from the strictly scientific contributions as research articles (short and full papers) and reviews, ESTT publishes: news & views from research and technology, Water treatment (physico/chemical methods); Air/gas treatment, NOx control, CO2 capture; Constructed wetlands and reed beds for water treatment; Agricultural wastes (liquid and solid); Solid waste treatment and bioconversion; Sustainable development or processes

Covers all areas of Environmental Science and related subjects, with emphasis on chemical compounds

Environmental science and treatment technology (ESTT) focus on all aspects of Environmental Science, Engineering, and Technology.

The Journal publishes high-impact contributions on:

1. Characterization of the harmful effects of chemicals and materials
2. Transport and Fate of HM in Environment
3. Risk Assessment and Management
4. Physico-chemical and Separation Processes
    Adsorption
    Ion Exchange
    Coagulation/Flocculation/ Precipitation
    Membrane Processes
    Flotation
    Stabilization/Solidification
5. Biological Processes
    Biodegradation
    Phytoremediation
6. Advanced Oxidation Processes
    Photodegradation/Photocatalysis
    H2O2
    Fenton

The aim of Environmental science and Treatment Technology (ESTT) is to bring together the international community working in the field of environmental sciences, engineering, and technology, and to foster an environment conducive to present advances in this field. Environmental science and Treatment Technology (ESTT) will also provide a golden opportunity to develop new collaborations and gather world experts on the different topics including pollution detection, environmental remediation, and pollution prevention.

Abstract: The ability of calcined limpet shells (CLS), to remove Cu(II) and Zn(II) from effluent solution by biosorption has been studied. All the studies were conducted by a batch method to determine equilibrium and kinetic studies. The effects of contact time, CLS dose, pH and temperature were studied for the biosorption of Cu(II) and Zn(II) on CLS. Biosor... Show More

Abstract: In order to determine copper removal efficiency and compartmentalization in the free floating fern S. minima, a bioassay was performed in which plants were exposed to increasing copper concentrations in the range of 1 to 30 mg Cu L-1 for six days in Pilcomayo River surface water. S. minima accumulated the metal in a dose-dependent manner. Metal con... Show More

Abstract: The inhibitory effect of heavy metals in nitrification has not been extensively investigated although it is expected that some form of inhibition would show up in the presence of these. Since Cadmium is a common heavy metal present in industrial effluents, its effect on nitrification has yet to be evaluated in qualitative and quantitative terms. In... Show More

Abstract: The aim of this work was to study the mineralization of hydrocarbons during composting. For this purpose, soil/green waste mixtures were prepared at three different ratios (S/GW= 60/40, 70/30, 80/20) composted for 90 days. An unamended polluted soil (100% soil) was used as the control. The results indicate that the composting process greatly increa... Show More
